What to Expect

The following is basic information to optimize your embroidery project.

It's important to know there are resolution limitations of embroidery.  The smallest stitch is about 2 millimeters across (roughly the thickness of a penny) and the longest stitch is about 7 millimeters (about the width of a pencil).  With that in mind, imagine recreating your art out of building blocks that are no smaller than 2 millimeters.  That would represent the maximum resolution possible.

The cost of embroidery is based on the amount of stitches used to create the design. As a baseline, a solid square is typically 2,000 stitches.

All projects begin with the art and garment.  When initiating a project, the following things must be taken into account:

  • Will the art fit in the desired location on the garment?

  • Does changing the size of the garment affect that?

  • Will the machine and hoop fit on the garment in that location?

  • Will sewing in that area potentially damage the garment?

Once sizing and location have been covered, next is the digitizing process.  Digitizing is the process of programming the art in a format that an embroidery machine can use to stitch the design out. There is a $15 digitizing fee - the process of converting any image or design into an embroidered product.  I'll prepare your art for embroidery using digitizing software, including thread color match, and send your pre-production photos for your approval.  Once the digitizing, measuring, and compatibility checks are all wrapped up, it's time for PRODUCTION!

Quality embroidery is all about understanding the limitations and advantages and then leveraging them to get the desired outcome.  At MVED Embroidery, I work closely with you to make sure the finished product far exceeds your expectations.
